Hazel Wilson

Hazel J. (Betty) Wilson, 76, of South Point, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016, at her residence after an extended illness.
Hazel was born Oct. 4, 1940, in Pikeville, Kentucky. She was a homemaker and a devout Christian. She was a daughter to the late James and Minnie Harrington Mulkey.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Joe Wilson; sisters, Marie Wilson, Lyzzie Blankenship, JoAnne Hensley and Aileen Little. She is survived by two brothers, Dennis Mulkey, of Youngstown; Newt Mulkey, of Coal Grove; a sister, Ruth White, of Youngstown; five children, Roy (Laura) Wilson, of South Point, Dennis (Brenda) Wilson, of Midway, Georgia, Catherine (Robert) Ross, of Kenova, West Virginia, Karen (James) Wood, of South Point, and Roger (Patricia) Wilson, of South Point. Grandchildren include Jacqueline Henry, Kevin Wilson, Jessica Salyers, Stacie Wilson, Dennis Wilson, Jessica Wilson, Justin Wood and Austin Wood. Hazel was blessed with six great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point. The service will be at noon on Saturday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home with the Rev. Kevin Barcus
March 3, 1971 — Dec. 23, 2016
Kevin Barcus, of Kitts Hill, passed away Dec. 23, 2016. Born March 3, 1971, the son of Donald D. and Lois Kelly Barcus.
Kevin worked at the Ohio Valley Youth Center for four years, and for Cabletron, Pyrochem, and Barcus Pool Supplies. He also worked at Ohio University Proctorville Center for 13 years in facilities. Kevin’s hobbies that he loved were fishing, hunting, four wheeling, drag racing and watching NASCAR. In his youth, he loved to raccoon hunt with the Depriest boys. Kevin loved his family and friends. Kevin was a graduate of Rock Hill High School and a member of the Pride of Lawrence County Marching Band, directed by David Bare. Kevin never met a stranger and he loved fishing Brush Creek with his brother Kenny. Kevin would help anyone in need for a chore. Kevin will be missed by family and friends.
Kevin acknowledged to his family that he suffered with bipolar depression. Kevin felt that bipolar depression is a serious disease and a cure needs to be found and better treatment. He also suffered from COPD and was diabetic.
A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Mamre Gymnasium, with pastor John Paul Patterson officiating.
Walter Castle Sr.
April 11, 1932 — Dec. 28, 2016
Walter Lee Ray Castle Sr., 84, of Coal Grove, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky.
Walter Ray was born April 11, 1932 in Boldman, Kentucky to the late Ralph B. and Goldie (Newcomb) Castle. Ray was a 1951 graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School where he played football for the Coal Grove “Hornets.” He loved coaching little league baseball, football, and basketball and was assistant coach with the late B.J. Hannon for the “Bombers” ladies softball team. He also played on a men’s fast pitch softball team for numerous years and was a past president of the Deering PTA. He attended Sugar Creek Missionary Baptist Church and sang with the Tri-County Choir. He retired in 1992 from Armco Steel as a foreman in the T&L department.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Anita Lou (Ream) Castle, who passed away Jan. 14, 2010; his brothers, Estell, Charles, William Otto, and Herbert Castle; a sister, Nora Helen Waddle; two daughters-in-lawm Phyllis Carol Castle and Vicki Lynn Castle; and a grandson Norman Douglas Castle. He is survived by a twin sister, Liltina Mae Salyers, of South Point, and Margret “Tootsie” Christian, of Minneola, Florida; his sons, Walter Ray Jr. (Debbie), Terry Leigh, Kevin Eugene, all of Coal Grove; and Gary Bryan of Flatwoods, Kentucky; a daughter Ranita (Tim) Mullens of Deering; grandchildren, Steve Castle, Rachel (Charles) Price, Jeremy (Marianna) Castle, Junior (Diane) Salmons, Russell (Geri) Salmons, Bobby (Crissy) Hensley, Bryan (Savannah) Castle, Timothy (Heidi) Mullens and Brandon Mullens; great grandchildren, Andrew and Aubrey Castle, Jasmine Kelley, Charles Price, Jeremiah Castle, Josh and Cody Salmons, Tanner, Tristan and Kylie Hensley, Haley Salmons, Jordan Mullens, Mekenzie Pennington and Murphy and Sway Mullens; and his pet dog Betty Boop.
Visitation will be Monday, from 6-9 p.m. at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home, Ironton, and funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sugar Creek Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Long officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens in South Point. VFW Post 8850 will perform Military Rites.

Ralph Imes
Jan. 13, 1943 — Dec. 25, 2016
Ralph Imes, 73, of Ironton, passed away Sunday Dec. 25, 2016 at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky. The Ironton, Ohio native was born Jan. 13, 1943, a son of the late Ivan L. and Clara Walk Imes.
Mr. Imes attended Ironton High School and was a former detailer for various car dealerships which included Fannin’s, Shafers, Higgins and Jack Wolfe Chevrolet. He enjoyed fishing, horseshoes and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Bill Imes, Raymond Imes, Stanley Imes, Fred Imes and Paul Imes; three sisters, Dorothy Smith, Edna Henry and Mildred Fritzwater.
He is survived by four children, Ralph D. (Misty) Imes, of Franklin Furnace; Kim (Mike) Aldridge, of Ironton; Brian (Ronda) Imes, of Pedro; and Tracy (James) Rawlins, of South Webster, Ohio; eleven grandchildren, Erin Stapleton, Tyler Imes, Seth Imes, Briana Imes, Sierra Imes, Aiden Imes, Nolan Imes, Charlee Haas, Allison Rawlins, JJ Rawlins and Alexis Rawlins; one great grandchild, Zoey Stapleton; one sister, Helen Imes; two brothers, LeRoy Imes, of Florida, and Bobby Imes, of Tennessee; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South Seventh Street, Ironton, with the Rev. James Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in LaGrange Cemetery and visitation will be from 10. a.m. Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Donnie Jackson
Donnie James Charles Jackson, 25, of Huntington, died, Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, in Huntington.
