BIDWELL — Imagine what Elijah Adams can do when he’s 100 percent healthy.
Playing his first game since an appendectomy, Adams scored 20 points to go with 5 assists as the South Point Pointers beat the River Valley Raiders 68-54 on Tuesday.
Jared Whitt hit four 3-point goals and scored 16 points while grabbing 5 rebounds and Tayshaun Fox added 13 points and 5 assists for the Pointers (5-1). Logan Wade pulled down 10 rebounds.
“We started slow and then we picked it up. It was Elijah’s first game back and he got a little tired and we held him some in the second half,” said Pointers’ coach Travis Wise.
Jacob Dovenbarger scored a game-high 27 points to lead the Raiders (1-8) who lost their eight straight.
“Dovenbarger shot the ball really well,” said Wise.
Adams scored 10 points and Whitt hit a pair of 3-pointers as South Point took an 18-16 lead.
Dovenbarger scored 10 points for the Raiders.
South Point went up 29-24 at the half and then outscored the Raiders 21-11 in the third quarter to open up a 50-35 cushion.
Dovenbarger scored 6 points in the fourth quarter but Cade Brandt came up with three steals for the Pointers to help seal the win.
South Point visits Portsmouth next Tuesday.
