CANNONSBURG, Ky. — Basketball may be a game of runs, but sometimes those really, really big runs ruin it for the other runs.
The Boyd County Lions used a huge run in the first half to build a big lead en route to a 64-33 win over the Chesapeake Panthers on Friday at the fifth annual Roundball Classic.
The game was tied at 4-4 when the Lions took off on a 28-1 run. They led 17-4 at the end of the first quarter and 44-17 at the half.
The Panthers (0-2) were just 11-of-41 from the field for 27 percent. They were 3-of-19 from the 3-point line for 16 percent.
Doug Mills hit all of Chesapeake’s 3-pointers as he scored 10 points. The Panthers were out-rebounded 41-19.
Hunter Kenser led the Lions (3-0) with 19 points and 15 rebounds. Blake Stewart added 11 points.
Chesapeake visits Gallipolis on Tuesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
