Gladys Bryant

Aug. 9, 1928 — Nov. 18, 2016

Gladys “Lucille” Bryant, matriarch of the Bryant family, passed away on Friday, Nov. 18, 2016, in Chillicothe at the age of 88. She was born Aug. 9, 1928, in Cedar Grove, West Virginia, daughter of the late Margaret Harkless Lively Bowman and William Lively. Lucille Lively Bowman and Jack Bryant Jr. met in Superior and were married on Dec. 11, 1951.
They were parents to eight children, James Robert (Jimmy), who died in Vietnam in 1972, John Paul (Kathy), of Conway Arkansas, Mary Ann Hunt, of Hanging Rock, Tammy (Don) Bolden, of Jackson, Gary Lee, who died April 4, 2009, Kathy (Kitty), of Wheelersburg, William M. (Bill), of Ironton, and James Richard (Leesa), of Greenbrier, Arkansas; and a special cousin, Jayne Bowman, of Zanesville.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Jr.; brother, William Bowman, who died in Vietnam 1966; sister, Lena Bowman; grandson, Shawn Bryant; and most recently, son, John Paul, who died Nov. 23, 2016. Lucille was grandmother (mamaw, granny) to 13 grandchildren, and great-grandmother to 22 great-grandchildren. She lived most of her life in Ironton, and also a time in Jackson and Conway, Arkansas. She lived the past six months in Jackson with her daughter, Tammy. Lucille never met a stranger and would talk to anyone, and did. She was loved by so many. She will be greatly missed and loved always. One of her favorite lines to say when people were leaving was, “Glad you got to see me,” which will continue on.

Sarah Horn

Sarah Elizabeth Horn, 71, of Ironton, died on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2016. She was born in Ironton, Dec. 8, 1944, the daughter of the late Charles and Inez Blankenship Cremeans. She attended St. Lawrence O’Toole Church. She worked as a house monitor for the CAO Domestic Shelter and for Save A Lot in Ironton. She was the widow of Morris Horn.
Also preceding her were four brothers, Ronnie Cremeans, Charles Cremeans, Donald Cremeans and David Cremeans; and one sister, Linda Cremeans. Survivors include her children, Charles Sanders, Earl Sanders, Kim Ramski and Christopher Horn; grandchildren include, Louci Nichols, Earl Sanders Jr., Devon Ramski, Zach Sanders, and William H. Sanders; one brother, Chet Cremeans; and two sisters, Mazie Cremeans and Ruby Delong.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at O’Keefe Baker Funeral Home. Visitation will be noon until the time of the service Saturday. Burial will be in Junior Furnace Cemetery. Father David Huffman will be officiating.

George Fuller

George Lewis Fuller, 77, of Proctorville, died Monday, Nov. 28, 2016, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Donna Layman Fuller. There will be a memorial service at a later date. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, is in charge of arrangements. Cordell Alex Adkins, 71, died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016, at King’s Daughters Medical Center, Ashland, Kentucky. His family have entrusted his care to Brown Funeral Chapel, Ironton.

Marie Whaley

Marie L. Whaley, 92, died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016, in Ashland. Arrangements are pending at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home, Ironton.

Aaron Murphy

Jesse P. McCain, 66, of Richmond Hill, Georgia, died Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, at his residence following a brief illness.
