Balanced Bobcats stop Southern

ATHENS, Ohio (AP) — Jordan Dartis scored 15 points, and Kenny Kaminski and Antonio Campbell each had 14 to lead Ohio over Southern 77-67 in the season opener for both teams on Saturday.
With the score tied at 44 early in the second half, Kaminski made back-to-back 3s, Dartis hit a 3 and Campbell’s layup pushed Ohio’s lead to 55-46 with 14:41 to play.
Later, Kaminski made another 3 and the lead went to 64-51. Kaminski shot 4 for 8 from 3-point range.
Tre’lun Banks hit a 3 with 2:58 left to cut the Jaguars’ deficit to 69-62 with 2:58 left, but Campbell’s layup and dunk with two minutes left pushed the margin to 11.
The Jaguars outrebounded the Bobcats 43-35 but committed 22 turnovers and collected 24 fouls.
Chris Thomas led Southern with 15 points on 6-of-12 shooting while Patrick Smith had 12 points and nine rebounds and Shawn Prudhomme added 12 points and six boards.
