PROCTORVILLE — Brickhouse Cardio Club hosted its annual heath fair on Friday, allowing the community to drop by and visit booths from various local businesses.
Fruth Pharmacy offered free flu shots, while local health providers offered blood pressure readings.
Shery Kincaid was running the booth for the American Cancer Society.
“We’re here to talk about mammograms and patient service programs,” she said. “The older you get, the more you need a mammogram.”
Lisa Hastings, a coordinator for the Total Woman program at St. Mary’s Medical Center, was at another, where she was handing out tote bags and information on the program, while Chris Sheridan, a sales manager at Hall Funeral Home, gave information on services his employer provides.
“We’re raising awareness about having the need to have everything prepared,” he said.
Josh Dierdorff, a physical therapy assistant at River Physical Therapy in South Point, was promoting his business.
“We’re here locally in the Tri-State,” he said. “We treat anybody and everybody.”
Brickhouse owner Angie George said this is the second year for the health fair, and the first in their new location on State Street.
“It was really successful when we had it last year,” she said, as she was handing out information on their Silver Sneaker class for senior citizens.
George said Brickhouse will host a free Community Day from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5.
“We’ll be demo-ing every class that day and offering door prizes,” she said.
