Shawn Walker

May 28, 1964 — Oct. 14, 2016

Shawn Michael Walker, 52, of Ironton, husband of Sarah Eileen Albers Walker and father of Nicholas Michael, Samuel Charles, and Molly Eileen, passed on peacefully Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, at the Ashland Community Hospice Care Center. He was the son of the late Emmett E. Walker and Rose Lutz Walker.
During his life, he became a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Rotary Club of Ashland, the Greater Lawrence County Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Ashland Alliance. Shawn was a 1982 graduate of Saint Joseph High School, attended Ohio University, graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture degree, attended Oxford University, England, and graduated from Kent State University with honors with a master’s degree of architecture.
He was a registered architect in the states of Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky and Vermont, and the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards. He was president and principal architect of his own architectural firm in Ashland, Kentucky.
Shawn was preceded in death by his father, Emmett Walker; a brother, Mark Walker; a brother-in- law, Skip Hipsley; and a dear friend, Nick Herrell.
In addition to his wife, Sarah, and his children, Nick, Sam, and Molly, survivors include his mother, Rose Lutz Walker; brothers, James, David and his wife, Nolene, Terrance and his wife, Jeannie, and Robert; sisters, Barbara and her husband, Robert, Jennifer, Susan, Anne, and Janet and her husband, Keith; nieces, Jennifer, Kate, Sara and her husband, Chad, Erin, Rachel, Shannon, Coleen, Emily and her husband, Lonnie, Alex, Quinn and Rose; nephews, Ryan, Sean and Scott; great-nephews, Logan and Tyler; and great-nieces, Grace and Laney; brothers-in- law, Michael and his wife, Stacy, Charles and his wife, Kim, Scott and his wife, Emily; and sister-in-law, Emilee and her husband, John;  nephews, Nick and Matthew; nieces, Allison, Jessie, Savannah and Abigail; mother-in- law, Karen Albers; and father-in- law, Michael Albers and his wife, Shirlee.
In addition to being an amazing father and husband, Shawn was the very best brother, son, nephew, uncle, son-in-law and friend. Shawn had a very special way of touching everyone he knew. He was a talented architect with a fabulous capacity of envisioning the ultimate outcome in every project.
His professional accomplishments include Ashland Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland Fire Stations, Greenbo Amphitheater, Ironton Knights of Columbus Hall, projects for the Ironton Housing Authority and many local banks, churches, schools and offices.
Celebration of Shawn’s life will be Monday, with visitation of family and friends beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Lawrence O’Toole Catholic Church in Ironton, followed by Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Arrangements are being made by O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home in Ironton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ironton Catholic Schools. The Walker family would like to extend special thanks to Shawn’s medical teams at The James/The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Huntington Internal Medical Group, Saint Mary’s Hospital and Ashland Community Hospice Care Center, and all family, friends and loved ones who have given such uplifting support during this difficult journey.

Lawrence Kauffman

Lawrence Kauffman, 77, of Chesapeake, died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, West Virginia. Albert Henry Hannon, 84, of Proctorville, died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016, at Abbyshire Place, Bidwell. He is survived by his wife, Maxine Hannon. Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville. Ben Casey

Aug. 22, 1962 — Oct. 13, 2016

Ben H. Casey, 54, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Kentucky. The Ironton native was born Aug. 22, 1962, the son of the late Dorothy Lee Scott Casey and Charles Henry Casey, Sr.
Ben attended Ironton High School.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Burton D. Casey and Richard L. Casey; a sister, Sharon M. Casey; a nephew, Charles Dustin Casey; and good friend, P.B. Eastham.
He is survived by two brothers, Charlie (Debbie) Casey, of Palmetto, Florida, and Robert (Mary) Casey, of Cincinnati; two sisters, Debbie Locander, of Rogers, Arkansas, and Carol Ann Casey, of Los Angeles, California; two uncles, David (Gail) Casey, of Norman, Oklahoma, and Jerry (Chris) Scott, of Thorton, Colorado; a cousin, Karen Sue (Don) Delong, of Ironton; five nieces, Misty (Avery) Bryant, of Coal Grove, Amy Casey, of Kitts Hill, Stevi Sanders, of Cincinnati, Jenny Locander, of Rogers, Arkansas, and Renee Yvonne (Derek) Harrington, of Garfield, Arkansas; two nephews, Johnny Casey, of Cincinnati, and Donald Locander of Rogers, Arkansas; many great-nieces and nephews; and close personal friends, Lynn (Danny) Ackison-Shope, of Ironton, Johnny Ackison, of Ironton, Mikey Yates, Cheyann Pemberton, and Baby Charles.

Norman McKnight

Norman Bruce McKnight, 74, of Ashland, Kentucky, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016, from King’s Daughters Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife, Sharon McKnight. A life celebration for Mr. McKnight will be 5 p.m. today at Garner Baptist Church with Bro. Gary Arrington and Bro. Dewayne Slusher officiating. Visitation will be 3 p.m. until the time of the service today at the church. Committal service at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast will be 2 p.m. Monday with military honors by Kenova Post 93 and the U.S. Air Force. Neal Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Donald Roy Quiring Jr., 47, of Louisa, Kentucky, died Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia.
