New containers to debut this week
Residents of Lawrence County will soon see a change in their recycling service.
Dan Palmer, the director of the Lawrence-Scioto County Sold Waste Authority, said the contract with Rumpke has been severed and Republic Services of Ashland will now handle recycling.
Palmer said, this week, new, blue containers from Republic will replace the green ones from Rumpke.
Palmer said the signage for the containers will not be available until Oct. 10, but said people should abide by the same rules for recycling.
“They should be patient in this time of transition,” he said.
He said items such as paper, newspapers magazine, cereal and snack cartons, plastic bottles, and metal aluminum and tin cans are accepted.
Garbage, food, yard waste, light bulbs, glass and food containers are not accepted, Palmer said.
