Lady Hornets put up pair of volleyball wins

COAL GROVE — It’s been an up and down week for the Coal Grove Lady Hornets. Fortunately, there were more ups than downs.
The Lady Hornets’ volleyball games also had their ups and downs that led to a pair of wins and one loss.
“Rock Hill was a hard-played match. Each team showed great hustle,” said Lady Hornets’ coach Trish Holmes. “Wednesday was a disappointment and Thursday was a rollercoaster ride with Chesapeake.”
Coal Grove beat Rock Hill in five sets, 26-24, 17-25, 25-16, 22-25 and 21-19 in a thrilling tiebreaker.
Kasey Murphy had a huge game with 29 points. Lauren Meyer had 19 points while Briana Stumbo had nine kills and Emily Compliment six kills.
The St. Joseph Female Flyers won in four sets on Wednesday, 25-20, 17-25, 25-19 and 25-20.
Murphy had 21 more point and Skylar Morrison 17 to paced the Lady Hornets.
In Thursday’s exciting game, Coal Grove won 25-22, 25-27, 21-25, 26-24 and 15-9 in the tiebreaker.
Morrison racked up 27 points and Murphy tallied 20. Compliment had seven kills and Stumbo had five kills.
