Lady Fighting Tigers open OVC volleyball with win over CG

COAL GROVE — The Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers went 3-for-3-for-3.

Ironton won all three matches the first week of the season with three set sweeps including a win over the Coal Grove Lady Hornets on Thursday in the Ohio Valley Conference opener.

Ironton won the match 25-10, 25-18 and 25-18.

Lexi Wise had 15 points to pace the Lady Tigers. Alyssa Lewis scored eight points while Zakia Lee and Ali White had seven each.

D’Laynie Keith racked up nine kills, Wise five and Kenzie Cremeens and Lee ahd four each. Cremeens also had six blocks with Lee getting three.

Lewis amassed 25 assists.

In the jayvee match, Ironton won in straight sets 25-22, 25-18.

Peighton Rowe led Ironton with seven points, Lydia Hannan had six, Riley Schreck four and Mackenzie McMasters and Demi Sands three each.

The Lady Tigers play at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday at South Point in a league match.
