JACKSON — Talk about you thrilling finishes.

Although the outcome wasn’t what the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers’ tennis team wanted, the finish was a classic.

Ironton lost 3-2 to the Jackson Ironladies on Thursday in a match that came down to the final doubles set.

No. 1 singles player Aleigha Justice got a win as did the Ironton No. 1 doubles team of Rachel Sanders and Sophia Caines.

Kara Spencer lost at the No. 2 singles spot in three sets and No. 3 singles player Holly Bruce also fell.

That left the match up to Ironton’s No. 2 doubles tandem of Savannah Justice and Sydney Webb.

The duo lost 5-7 and 6-7 with a tiebreaker loss at 7-9.

The Lady Tigers visit Portsmouth Notre Dame on Monday and host Jackson on Thursday. Both matches are at 4:30 p.m.
