Group looking for donations
SOUTH POINT –– With the nonprofit South Point organization People for the Point recently taking over management of the South Point Community Center, the group is currently in the process of updating and improving the facility through the help of donations.
“We need individuals, businesses or families who are interested in becoming a sponsor for our community center upgrade project. Our goal for the community center is to have a nice facility where anyone can host activities, parties and events,” Chris Smith, People for the Point president, said. “We would like to have a venue our community can be proud to use.”
Improvements include eight new windows, which have already been purchased, 8-foot commercial grade tables with matching chairs, new bathrooms and other interior cosmetic improvements and repairs.
The outside of the center has already been repainted by the Ironton Sherwin Williams store, which donated the paint and manpower to complete the job.
Those who donated for the windows will either have their name on a memorial plaque underneath the window or on a large plaque that will recognize everyone who donates to the project.
Smith said the donation cost for one table and eight chairs is $300, but any donation to the project would be appreciated.
Anyone wishing to become a sponsor, make a donation or donate manual labor to the project can contact Smith at chris.smith@peopleforthepointinc.com or 740-547-9749.
