Shirley Dalton got double the joy on Sunday night when she saw two of her grandchildren graduate from Ironton High School — Garvin Dalton and Charley Dalton.
“They started in kindergarten and went 13 years,” Dalton said. “I feel so sad. I’m happy for them but yesterday they were babies. Now they are graduates. Charley had her cap and gown for baccalaureate and I cried.
Garvin will study at Lincoln Tech in the fall and Charley will go to the University of Kentucky.
It was a warm night at Tanks Memorial Stadium for the graduation that had the stadium packed.
Marlee Kaiser said she felt pretty good about the night.
“I’m excited,” she said. “I has been a long journey but I enjoyed every minute of it.”
Now she is headed to Marshall University where she will study music education.
“I was inspired by the band directors,” she said.
