Rain and winds put a damper on the bike rodeo this past Saturday at the Ironton Farmers Market, causing organizers to shut down the event early.
“It took five people holding the tent down and our paperwork kept blowing around,” Laura Brown, of the Ironton Health Department, said. “Some people came after we had taken everything down and were upset.”
The bike rodeo is rescheduled from 10 a.m,-2 p.m. Thursday, July 14 at the Ironton skate park, located at Fourth and Etna streets in Ironton.
Helmets donated by the Ohio Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (Ohio AAP) will be given out to children as well as an opportunity to get their bikes checked out, learn safety tips on bike riding and go through a safety course.
Along with the Ironton Health Department, Dickess Auto Repair, Advance Auto Parts, the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office and Ironton Police Department assist with the bike event.
