A month after a Kitts Hill man was reported missing, the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office remains on the search.
“We received a tip as soon as yesterday,” Lawrence County Sheriff Jeff Lawless said. “The investigation is still ongoing. We are still following up on tips that we continue to receive on a daily basis.”
Billy R. Harper, 41, of County Road 19, Kitts Hill, is believed to have been missing since April 20. Two days later his family reported his disappearance.
On April 27, a hunter found his Toyota Rav car at approximately the 8-mile marker of County Road 5 in Kitts Hill.
The car was unoccupied and there were no signs of foul play, Lawless said.
Helping in the search have been the National Forestry Service, Elkins Creek Horse Camp and individual ATV riders.
“We still want to find this man,” the sheriff said. “You can’t discard tips. One might be the one that finds him.”
Harper is a white male, 5-foot-10 weighing 155 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. He has a beard and wears glasses.
