CLEVELAND (AP) — A person familiar with the situation says free-agent quarterback Robert Griffin III visited the Cleveland Browns.
Griffin, who was released earlier this month by Washington, met with coach Hue Jackson and others on Saturday, said the person who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the team is not disclosing its plans during free agency.
The Browns were interested in drafting RG3 in 2012, but couldn’t work out a trade to move up as they were outbid by the Redskins.
Griffin’s career has been on a steady decline since injuring his knee at the end of his rookie season.
Cleveland’s quarterback situation has been a mess for years. The team recently waived Johnny Manziel, a former first-round draft pick. Cleveland has the No. 2 overall pick in this year’s draft and is considering California’s Jared Goff and North Dakota State’s Carson Wentz.
