Ironton City Council to meet tonight

Two ordinances and three resolutions are on the agenda for tonight’s Ironton City Council meeting.
The first reading of Ordinance 16-07, authorizing and directing the mayor to negotiate and enter into an agreement for engineering and design services with E.L. Robinson Engineering Company, Inc. regarding the floodwall improvement/pump station #6 project and declaring an emergency, will be given.
Ordinance 16-03, authorizing the mayor to enter into a contract for health insurance coverage for the employees of the city of Ironton and declaring an emergency, will be given its second reading.
The three resolutions to be read include:
Resolution 16-05, authorizing the execution of a revolving loan fund agreement between the city of Ironton and the state of Ohio and declaring an emergency. The city of Ironton was determined to be eligible to receive community development block grant funds administered by the Ohio Department of Development through its Office of Housing and Community Partnerships.
Resolution 16-06, authorizing the approval of the contract services agreement with the Ironton-Lawrence County Community Action Organization, Inc. (CAO). According to the Ohio Development Service Agency’s Program Policy Notice OCD 15-02, the CAO is qualified as the city of Ironton’s community action agency for applying for and administering grant funds.
Resolution 16-08, authorizing the submission of a competitive economic development community development block grant and an Appalachian Regional Commission grant application for the phase 2 Gateway Project. Brew Kettle, a restaurant and brewery based in Cleveland, is proposing an expansion in the Gateway Ninth Street Project that would allow for the creation of an estimated 60 new jobs within the 18 months of the project completion.
Ironton City Council will begin at 6 p.m. in the council chambers on the third floor of the Ironton City Center. There will also be a Public Utilities Committee meeting prior at 5:15 p.m.
