PROCTORVILLE — When the Fairland Dragons shoot the ball well, they shoot the ball well.

After shooting 56 percent last Friday and dropping off to 30 percent on Saturday, the Dragons bounced back with a good night as they rolled past the Gallipolis Blue Devils 77-55 on Tuesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Fairland was 30-of-60 from the floor for 50 percent including 29-of-49 from 2-point range for a sizzling 59 percent.

Leading the hot-shooting were Kollin Van Horn with 19 points on 8-of-15 shooting, Gunner Short with 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting, Luke Thomas 11 points with 5-of-10 shooting and Isaiah Howell with 10 points by going 3-of-6.

Van Horn also yanked down 15 rebounds while Ty Staten had 7 assists and 3 steals. Short had 4 steals.

With the win, Fairland is now 8-2 overall and remains unbeaten in the OVC at 6-0. The Dragons host Chesapeake on Friday in a battle for first place. The Panthers are 5-1 in the league.

Justin Peck had 16 points and 8 rebounds to lead Gallipolis (4-6, 3-4). Wes Jarrell and Kole Carter added 10 points each.

Van Horn scored 8 points in the first quarter as Gallipolis jumped in front 22-11 and was never headed.

Peck had 8 points in the second quarter as Gallipolis outscored the Dragons 20-17 to trail 39-31 at the half.

But Fairland extended its lead to 59-46 after three quarters and continued to stretch the margin in the fourth quarter by outscoring Gallipolis 18-9.
