PORTSMOUTH — A Franklin Furnace couple has surrendered to police after hearing they were wanted by the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office for allegedly selling illegal bath salts.
Misty Holt, 35, and Timothy Brumfield, 35, with a last known address of 2089 B Big Pete Road, Franklin Furnace, turned themselves in on Saturday after hearing they were wanted via social media.
In a release by the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office on Friday, Sheriff Marty V. Donini said his detectives have been actively working on several cases of trafficking in a bath salt called Flakka.
“Detectives were able to identify suspects that were having Flakka delivered to them through the mail from other countries,” according to the release. “During this investigation detectives were able to seize two deliveries of the Flakka and interview possible suspects.”
The suspected Flakka was sent to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation lab for testing, which resulted in charges being presented to a Scioto County grand jury, who returned an indictment warrant on two suspects.
