The Village of Hanging Rock will have its Kids Fun Day this weekend. The event will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at a field on Veteran’s Way in the village.
“We just wanted to do something for the kids and give them a fun day,” Village Councilwoman Kim Chinn said. “It’s all about the kids.”
The council, with community support, has been sponsoring the event for the past six or seven years. Chinn, along with council members Debbie Sanders and Susan Fatony, organized the event.
This year’s event will feature several attractions including inflatables, police car rides, a cakewalk and free food.
Representatives from Texas Roadhouse will also be on hand with their mascot for face painting.
Local band Derailed will perform during the event.
The band, which performs classic rock, Southern rock and country, has been playing the event since its second year.
About 35 door prizes including toys and skateboards will be given away.
“It’s just a lot of fun,” Sanders said. “Everyone who comes seems to have a good time and that’s why we do it.”
