Landon Rogers

Dec. 16, 1996 — Nov. 19, 2015

Landon Howard Rogers, born on Dec. 16, 1996, and passed away Nov. 19, 2015.

He is survived by his parents, Howard and Cheryl Rogers, of Gainesville, Florida; sisters, Hannah Rogers, of Colorado Springs, and Lauren Rogers, of Gainesville; grandparents, Doris and Carl Childers, of Leesburg, Florida, and Rollin and Shirley Bacon, of Glasgow, Kentucky, and Ronald and Susie Rogers, of Coal Grove; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was mine. He was ours. He is God’s.

From the Rogers family, thank you precious friends and family for your influence on our son and for loving him well and choosing on this day to remember him and what he meant to you. May the God of the only true peace and comfort be with you.

 

 

Wed Harmon

Sept. 7, 1942 — Nov. 25, 2015

Wed Harmon Sr., 73, of Ironton, passed away Wednesday, Nov.25, 2015, at his residence. The Salyersville, Kentucky, native was born Sept. 7, 1942, a son of the late Kelly and Nola Bailey Harmon. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sharon E. Walters Harmon, who passed away April 15, 2009.

Wed attended Hanging Rock Schools, was a self-employed construction worker and a member of the Hanging Rock Apostolic Church of God. He lived all his life in Lawrence County.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Darlene Gipson; a son, Ronald Ray Harmon; two brothers, Kelly Harmon Jr. and James Harmon; two sisters, Cleta Mae Blankenship and Tina Faye Orrs; and three grandsons, Ronald Anderson, William Anderson and Justin Harmon.

He is survived by his children, four daughters, Constance K. (Jonathan) Nelson, Janie E. Lewis, Brenda Lee (Robert) Lewis, all of Ironton, and Angela Depriest, of South Point; three sons, Charles Kelly (Kathy) Harmon, Wed (Teresa) Harmon, Jr. and David (Barbara) Harmon, all of Ironton; 33 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. today at Phillips Funeral Home with Elder Glen Jenkins and Kenny Waller officiating. Burial will follow in Hanging Rock Cemetery and visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Billy Moore

Billy Ray Moore, 72, of Crown City, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 2015, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington. He is survived by his wife Theresa Brown Moore. Funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. today at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in Proctorville. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville. Jeffrey Remy

Dec. 1, 1942 — Nov. 26, 2015

Jeffrey Bruce Remy, 72, of Ironton, went to be with the Lord Thursday, Nov. 26, 2015, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky. The Lawrence County native was born Dec. 1, 1942, a son of the late Edward H. and Bonnie Thuma Remy. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda Gambill Remy.

Mr. Remy was a 1960 graduate of Ironton High School and received his associate degree from Ohio University Southern Campus in Ironton.

He was a former machinist for Marathon Ashland Oil for 37 years and a member of the First Baptist Church of Russell, Kentucky. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, JoLee Remy; and a son in-law, Charles “Choc” McCorcle.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Victoria Lynn McCorcle, of Ironton; a son, Aaron C. (Claire) Remy, of East Sound, Washington; four grandchildren, Benjamin Edward (Katie) Murphy, Brandon James McCorcle, Nathan Andrew McCorcle and Larkin Roselle Remy; and two great-grandsons, Collin Edward Murphy and Mason Benjamin Murphy.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, with pastor Ken Gowin officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Helen McCoy

Helen Taylor Duty McCoy, 89, of Chesapeake, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2015.

Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 5640 Shawnee Drive Huntington, West Virginia.

Burial will follow in Union Hill Cemetery, Chesapeake.

Visitation will be today from 6-8 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the Church.

Carl Collins

May 10, 1921—Nov. 25, 2015

Carl Junior Collins, 94, of Findlay passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2015. at 10:38 a.m. at the Bridge Hospice Care Center.  He was born on May 10, 1921 in Greenup, Kentucky, to the late Marion and Nellie (Dunlap) Collins.  In August 1948, he married the love of his life, Iva Jean Hale who preceded him in death on Oct. 16, 2009, after 61 years of marriage.

He is survived by his daughter, Rahna (Jim) Grismore of Arlington; his son, Jeff (Cindy) Collins of Findlay; and his daughter, Tanya (Brian) Grimm of Ashland.  Grandchildren surviving are Lisa Robinson and Mashayla Beach, Jacob and Jessica Collins, and Nicholas and Steven Grimm, along with six great-grandchildren.  Carl was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Carl’s career was in service to his country, first serving in the U.S. Navy, Coast Guard, U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Army for the last 12 years.  He served in three wars. He also served as a Hancock County Sheriff Deputy. He ended his career as a security guard with RCA.

He was a life member of the Elks BPOE #75, American Legion Ralph D. Cole Post #3 and the AMVETS.  He loved fishing, watching Notre Dame football, watching and reading westerns and enjoyed doing Sudoko puzzles.   His greatest joy was his family.

Memorials in Carl Collins’ name are suggested to the Bridge Home Health & Hospice, 15100 Birchaven Lane, Findlay, OH  45840.

After serving his country and fellowman, Carl’s wish was to donate his body to the University of Toledo Medical Center.  Services will be private.

Rebecca Payne

June 21, 1963—Nov. 28, 2015

Rebecca Lynn Gorby Payne, 52, of Scottown, fought hard with leukemia but went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015.  She was born June 21, 1963, daughter of Rick and Wanda L. Gorby.  In addition to her parents she is survived by her husband, Teddy Payne; daughters, Keturah Lynn Adkins and Natasha Dawn Massie; sister, Brenda (Robert) Burcham; brother, Jason (Shawna) Gorby; five grandchildren, Jaydon Lee Adkins, Braxton Lee Massie, Addyson Lynn Adkins, Alexis Grace Massie and Lillian Gerra Friend; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory by Frank Fuller. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Huntington. Peggie Davis

Nov. 18, 1925—Nov. 27, 2015

Peggie L. Davis, 90, of Ironton, passed away Friday, Nov. 27, 2015, at a local health care facility. The Lawrence County native was born Nov. 18, 1925, a daughter of the late Edgar K. and Jean Stewart Lewis. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carson Davis, who passed away Dec. 16, 2001.

Mrs. Davis was a graduate of Ironton High School and retired from Star Bank in 1977. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ironton.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Harpring; two brothers,John F. Lewis and K. Stewart Lewis; and a grandson, Chris Graves.

She is survived by a sister-in-law, Margaret Lewis of Chesapeake; three grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Woodland Cemetery. There will be no public visitation and Phillips Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.

 

Warren Robinson

Dec. 9, 1940 – Nov. 26, 2015

U.S. veteran Warren Kennedy Robinson, of South Point, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 2015, peacefully at his home.

Born Dec. 9, 1940, in Beverly, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Wilson E. Robinson, Sr. and Mary Kennedy Robinson.

Mr. Robinson graduated from Elkins High School in Elkins, West Virginia ,in 1958 and Ohio University in 1976. Mr. Robinson served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a communication specialist and computer engineer for Kleinschmidt in Chicago, Illinois ,at the CSX Railroad in Russell, Kentucky; Cabletron Systems in Ironton and Client Logic Corporation in Huntington, West Virginia until his retirement in 2011.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen B. Robinson (Knost); daughters, Capt. Michele C. Huddleston (U.S. Navy) of San Diego, California, Jennifer L. Robinson of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Danielle Robinson-Prater and her husband, Joel of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and grandchildren, Isabella M. Prater and Eli W. Prater of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

He is also survived by brothers, John M. Robinson of Erlanger, Kentucky, and Nathan W. Robinson (wife, Katherine) of Frederick, Maryland; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Howard L. Robinson of Atlanta, Georgia and Wilson E. Robinson, of Anderson, South Carolina.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The family will receive friends from 9:30-11 a.m. before the service at the church with Father David Huffman officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, O’Keefe Baker Funeral Home is in charge of services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph High School and City Welfare Mission in Ironton.

 

 

Holace Workman

Holace Workman, 73, of Proctorville, died Friday, Nov. 27, 2015, at home.

Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
