King’s Daughters Medical Center received $59,700 in grant funding from Susan G. Komen to provide screening mammograms and follow-up diagnostic testing to eligible women in eight eastern Kentucky and three southern Ohio counties.

 

Who’s eligible?

• Women age 40 to 64 years of age who are uninsured or whose deductibles/co-pays make it difficult for them to afford follow-up services.

• Residents of Boyd, Carter, Elliott, Floyd, Greenup, Johnson, Lewis and Martin counties in Kentucky.

• Residents of Jackson, Lawrence and Scioto counties in Ohio (residents of contiguous counties may also be eligible)

“Many of the counties in King’s Daughters’ service area have lower rates of mammography screening than areas outside of the region,” said Doretha Pridemore, KDMC Breast Care Center clinical supervisor. “These grants allow us to provide eligible women access to potentially life-saving screenings they might not otherwise receive.”

 

Covered services include:

• Diagnostic mammograms

• Breast ultrasound

• Breast MRI

• Breast biopsy

• Screening mammograms

• Education and awareness

Additional funding is provided by Kentucky’s Breast Cancer Research and Education Trust Fund through sales of the state’s Driving for a Cure license plates.
