Lady Pointers notch win over Redwomen

SOUTH POINT — In the words of Professor Hinkle from the Christmas special “Frosty the Snowman,” Mackenzie Fugitt was “busy, busy, busy.”
Fugitt had 17 kills, 26 digs and 4 aces to help the South Point Lady Pointers beat the Rock Hill Redwomen in an Ohio Valley Conference volleyball game on Tuesday.
South Point won the game in four sets. Rock Hill took the first set 25-17 and then the Lady Pointers rallied to win 25-17, 25-20, and 25-13.
“Mackenzie was able to find the holes tonight and was swinging with confidence,” said Lady Pointers’ coach Allen Perry.
Olivia Abner was nearly as busy with 15 kills and 3 blocks.
Rachel Wheeler added 7 kills and 2 blocks, Brooklyn Badgett 32 assists and 4 aces, and Hope Aylsworth led the defense with 18 digs.
In the reserve game, the Lady Pointers won in three sets 15-25, 25-18 and 25-23.
South Point hosts Coal Grove on Thursday.
