ROME TOWNSHIP — For the second time in a week, a Proctorville area bank has been targeted by a robber and authorities say it could be the same man.
At 10:45 a.m. Monday a 6-foot-tall white male entered Liberty Bank.
“He had on a hooded sweatshirt, face mask and was wearing gloves,” Lawrence County Sheriff Jeff Lawless said.
He was brandishing a dark-colored hand gun and demanded cash from a teller.
“She complied and he fled from the bank,” Lawless said.
There were three employees in the bank at the time and no customers.
The man drove away in a four-door sedan described as tan or silver.
Similar clothing was worn by the robber of U.S. Bank on this past Tuesday. The robber also fled the scene in a similar car.
“We are working with authorities out of West Virginia as far as leads because of the close proximity of the (31st Street) bridge,” the sheriff said.
