ASHLAND, Ky. – Valet service is returning to the campus of King’s Daughters Medical Center, effective Monday, Oct. 5. Services will be available from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Medical Plaza A & B complex on 23rd Street.
“We are working hard to make it easier and more convenient for patients and families to get the healthcare they need,” said Scott Hill, director of safety and security, “and valet is one example of this.”
The medical plaza buildings are home to more than 20 physician offices as well as KDMC’s cardiac/pulmonary rehabilitation programs; outpatient surgery center; spine and pain center; chemotherapy services; and wound care center.
“Hundreds of people flow through the Medical Plaza buildings every day, many of whom have health problems that make it difficult to walk any distance,” Hill said. “This will be a significant benefit to them.”
Additionally, the valet program allows families and caregivers to stay with ill or frail relatives rather than dropping them off at the entrance while they look for a parking space.
Valets will assist patients and families with exiting and entering vehicles; help maintain traffic flow; monitor safety; and ensure wheelchairs are available to meet the needs of customers.
The valet service will operate on voluntary donations from users; contributions will flow directly back to the program to help sustain it, Hill said.
The shuttle program, which has been operating for nearly three years, will continue. “There are patients who truly enjoy riding the shuttle,” Hill said, “They want to park their own cars, keep their keys and know where their car is,” he said. “With valet and shuttle working together, we will be able to better accommodate the individual needs and preferences of our patients and families.”
