Great River Raffle is off

The Great River Raffle committee regrets to inform the public that the raffle, slated for Saturday, Sept. 26 has been cancelled due to a lack of ticket sales.
Refunds to ticket-holders will be distributed immediately. Those who purchased tickets via credit card should notice the refund to their accounts within the next two weeks.
Anyone who purchased an online ticket, but has not received the hard copy of the ticket, will also be reimbursed within two weeks. Those who purchased tickets using cash or personal checks should receive their refunds in four to six weeks. All refunds will be distributed by the GRR committee via electronic transfer or check, not by the business or individual from whom the ticket was originally purchased.
The GRR committee, which is comprised of several former and current members of multiple local civic organizations, wishes to thank the businesses and individuals who volunteered time and effort to assist in attempting to make the raffle a reality. Charlie’s Tires, Unger’s Shoes, Peddler’s Home Cooking, Pack Horse, and Worth-A-Stop all sold tickets from their businesses the past year. Kenton Jordan, John Hannon, Scott “Skinny” Williams, Ginger Gillenwater, Sarah Burton Smith, Laura Kelley, Cally Wurts, Jim Weber, Chris Kimbler, Paul Woods and several others volunteered personal time to help the cause.
The committee also wishes to thank those who bought tickets and displayed patience when the original GRR date of June 26 was postponed. The committee said it appreciates everyone who supported this effort. It simply couldn’t sell enough tickets to cover the cost of the prizes offered. It apologizes for any inconvenience canceling the raffle imposes but wish to ensure everyone their money will be promptly refunded.
