Every day it’s somebody new.
The Ironton Fighting Tigers seem to have a different golfer step up with the low score each match and Wednesday was no different.
Josh Mullins fired a 2-over par 37 at the Shawnee Golf Course to lead the Fighting Tigers to a tri-match win over the Portsmouth Trojans and Portsmouth Clay Panthers.
Ironton had a 154 team scored to finish 15 strokes ahead of Portsmouth. Clay had a 233 team score.
Besides Mullins’ medalist score, Josh Zornes was one shot back at 37 and Andy Holtzapfel was right behind him with a 39. Mason Weisgarber turned in the fourth top team score with a solid round of 40.
Jonathan Williams and Josh Cooke both played well as they fired rounds of 41 and 42, respectively.
Ironton — an impressive 77-7 on the season — plays in the Shawnee Invitational at 9 a.m. Saturday and returns to the same course for a third time in the sectional tournament at 8 a.m. on Tuesday.
