Carol Alsip
Carol J. Alsip (nee Baldwin), 80, went home to be with the Lord on July 30, at the Hospice of Cincinnati Inpatient Care Center in Blue Ash. Carol was born in Cincinnati in 1934, graduated from high school in 1953 in Ironton and spent many years living in Cincinnati and in Ironton. Carol was a member of First Baptist Church in Ironton and Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Cincinnati with many friends in both congregations. In her later years, she was a frequent mall-walker at Kenwood Towne Center and leaves behind many friends among her fellow walkers.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon Baldwin, Sr. and Martha (nee Cole) Baldwin; and her brother, Robert Baldwin, of Paso Robles, California. Carol is survived by her husband of 58 years, Harold L. (“Buddy”) Alsip of Cincinnati; son, Dan Alsip and his wife Judi, of Aurora; grandchildren, Stephen Alsip and his wife Christie, of Woodstock, Georgia, Scott Alsip of Akron, Abbey (nee Alsip) Singharath and her husband David, of Akron; great-grandchildren, Conner, Madilyn, Max, and Layla; brother Vernon Baldwin, Jr., of Fort Myers, Florida; sister, Janice (nee Baldwin) Blackburn, of Bradenton, Florida; sister-in-law, Joanne (nee Alsip) Nagelson and her husband Paul; and many nieces and nephews. A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. at Mihovk Rosenacker Funeral Home, 10211 Plainfield Road, Evendale, (on the grounds of Rest Haven Memorial Park).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to be made to the missions fund at Mount Carmel Baptist Church (www.mtcarmelbaptist.org) or to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org).
Sandra Wise
Jan. 24, 1947—July 30, 2015
Sandra Kay Wise, 68, of Ocala, Florida, was peacefully called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, July 30, 2015, at West Marion Community Hospital in Ocala.
She was born Jan. 24, 1947, the daughter of the late James Harmon Pierce and the late Opal Ruth Brown Pierce. She was a 1965 graduate of Ironton High School. She was of the Baptist faith. She was employed as a sales associate for many years at Ames in Russell, Kentucky, and at Sears in Ocala.
She was a loyal wife for 25 years to her beloved husband, Everett Wise, who survives. Survivors also include daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Bob Nolan of Raceland, Kentucky, Tracey and Terry Long of Kitts Hill and Terri Hall and her fiancé, Mark Collins of Ironton; stepsons and daughter-in-law, E. J. and Leslie Wise of Ocala, and Brian Wise of Ocala; her sisters, Ruth Casey of Summerfield, Florida, Pamela Woods and her significant other, Homer Woodburn of Ironton and Beverly Morris and her significant other, Jeff Smith of Huntington; 11 grandchildren, Stephanie Conlon, Megan Cook, B.J. Wise, Robbie Nolan, Luke Bonzo, Dara Long, Brooke Lege, Skylar Nolan, Westin Wise, Leah Wise and Landon Wise; and three great grandchildren, Cole Conlon, Ethan Conlon, and Zoey Conlon.
A life celebration will be held in Ocala, Florida at the families’ convenience. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at act.alz.org/site/Donation.

Gary L. Lewis, 78, of Vinton, died Thursday, July 30, 2015, in Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis.

Gina Michelle Combs, 43, of Chesapeake, died Friday, July 31, 2015, at King’s Daughters Medical Center, Ashland, Kentucky.

Robert Alan Lee, Jr., 68, of Proctorville, died Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia.
Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville.
Entombment will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington, West Virginia.
Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Kenneth H. Thacker, 80, of Proctorville, died Friday, July 31, 2015, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, West Virginia.

Bryan Chaffins
Aug. 11, 1958 — July 31, 2015
The Rev. Bryan D. Chaffins, 56, of Franklin Furnace, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 31, 2015, at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, with pastor Gary Chaffins officiating. Burial will follow at Haverhill Cemetery, Haverhill. Bryan was born Aug. 11, 1958, in Huntington, West Virginia, a son of the late C.W. (Cassel) and Margaret Ruth Harrison Chaffins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Pamela K. Shaw.
He was employed by Green Local Schools for 17 years and South Point Schools for one year. He was an ordained minister with Church of the Nazarene and spent nearly 38 years pastoring and evangelizing at churches throughout the Tri-State area. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Marsha Gayle Taylor Chaffins; children, Bryan D. (Misty) Chaffins, Jr. of Franklin Furnace, Steffiny (Chuck) Ray of Franklin Furnace, pastor Gary L. (April) Chaffins of Stout and Jill A. (Rev. Jared) Hineman of Franklin Furnace; one brother, Rev. Larry (Julie) Chaffins of Clarksburg, West Virginia; and 10 grandchildren.
