KITTS HILL — The Ironton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal one-vehicle crash that occurred Monday night on Township Road 237 in Lawrence Township. The roadway was closed for approximately three hours as a result of the crash.

According to a release from the OSHP, Valerie L. Jenkins, 55, of Kitts Hill, was driving a 2007 Ford Mustang northbound on Township Road 237 when it failed to take a curve and drove off to the right of the road.

The Mustang struck an embankment causing it to overturn onto its top and came to rest in a small creek. Preliminary investigations reveal the crash occurred sometime overnight and possibly during one of the severe thunderstorms that occurred.

The Ironton Post received the call of the crash at about 6:20 a.m. on Tuesday morning. The crash remains under investigation.
