Spring tea set for Saturday

Springtime is the theme for this May’s tea and fashion show at the Lawrence County Museum.
The four-course menu will feature fruit salad, chicken salad, cheese and tomato sandwiches, a brown sugar and pecan scone and a grape dessert.
Members of the historical society put on a tea twice a year, in May and early December as a fundraiser for their work of preserving the history of Lawrence County.
The society’s volunteers come up with original menus each season and create the dishes that are served by the younger volunteers.
Throughout the tea will be the traditional fashion show featuring special event finery starting with a 100-year-old gown with lace insets that was donated to the museum by the Kentucky Highlands and Discovery Center from their antique clothing collection. The show will end with a medley of modern day prom dresses.
The tea will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the museum. Tickets are $20 and reservations can be made by calling 740-534-9477.
