FRANKLIN FURNACE — The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings will work with whatever you give them.

Symmes Valley (6-0, 5-0) used its nine hits along with eight Green errors to produce a 13-0 Southern Ohio Conference win in five innings on Tuesday.

“We hit the ball well and we put the ball in play,” said Lady Vikings’ coach Jeff “Odie” Estep. “We were able to get some playing time four some of our younger players and that was very valuable playing experience.”

Taylor Webb and Tiara Hatfield went 2-for-4 to lead the offense. Kaitlyn Payne added a double and two runs batted in and Catlyn Carpenter also doubled.

Payne got the win as she allowed just two hits, struck out five and walked two.

The Lady Vikings took a 3-0 lead in the first inning.

Stephanie Brown walked, Webb singled and Payne had a two-run double. Hatfield followed with an RBI single.

Symmes Valley broke the game open with six runs in the second inning.

Carpenter doubled, Brenna Morris, Brown and Webb all reached on errors, Payne walked to force in a run, Hatfield had a two-run single and Autumn Keathley ground out as a run scored.

The lead went to 12-0 in the third inning.

Webb singled, stole second and third, Payne walked and Hatfield reached on error as a run scored.

Sierra Ross singled to drive in a run and the final run scored on a wild pitch.

The final run scored fifth when Payton Walsh was hit by a pitch, Kassie Baldwin walked and Hannah Newcomb had an RBI single.

Cierra Davis and Hannah Gleim had Green’s hits.

Symmes Valley hosts Portsmouth Clay on Wednesday and visits New Boston on Friday in league games.
