Portsmouth teens die in 2-car crash

MINFORD — Troopers with the Portsmouth Post of the Ohio State Patrol are investigating a two-vehicle, double fatal crash.
The crash occurred around 10:15 p.m. on Friday on State Route 335, just south of the Portsmouth Regional Airport.
A 2004 Ford Ranger, driven by Kris Conklin, 48, of Minford, was northbound on State Route 335. A 2007 Chevy Aveo, driven by Paige Evans, 18, of Portsmouth, was southbound on the same route, according to a press release from the post.
Evans’ vehicle drove left of center and was struck by Conklin’s vehicle. The impact caused one of the three rear passengers of Evans’ vehicle to be ejected from the vehicle. One passenger in Evans’ vehicle died at the scene.
Evans and Evan Bradley, 17, also of Portsmouth, died.
Conklin and two other passengers from Evans’ vehicle, Kyle Horsley, 18, and Ashley Fagan,16, both of Portsmouth, were transported to Southern Ohio Medical Center, in Portsmouth, with non-life threating injuries. All three were later transferred to a hospital in Columbus.
Evans and a fourth passenger in her vehicle, Olivia Evans, 17, were both airlifted to Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington. Paige Evans succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. Olivia Evans is listed in critical condition, according to the release.
The State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Ohio Investigative Unit, Minford Township Volunteer Fire Department and EMS and Portsmouth Ambulance.
The crash remains under investigation by personnel of the Portsmouth Post and further information will be released when available.
