JACKSON — The smaller schools teamed up on the larger schools.
In the District 13 Basketball Coaches’ senior all-star games on Monday, the boys’ Division III-IV team outlasted the Division I-II seniors 92-90 while the girls Division III-IV senior beat the Division I-II team 68-59.
Ironton Fighting Tigers’ Tristan Cox drained three 3-point goals and played a solid all-around game to earn Most Valuable Player honors in the boys’ game.
Rock Hill’s Austin Collins had eight points, Fairland’s Chance Short five points, Coal Grove’s Brandon Adkins six points and St. Joseph’s Wulf Goheen had a 3-ball for the Div. III-IV all-stars.
Fairland’s Caitlin Stone scored 15 points to lead the local players on the girls’ Div. III-IV team.
Fairland’s Mackenzie Riley had eight points, South Point’s Abbey Winler six points and Coal Grove’s Jacy Jones connected on a free throw.
St. Joseph’s Hannah Miller and Amber Neal played for the Division I-II team due to numbers. Neal hit a trifecta and Miller had two points.
Cierra Turley of Racine Southern had 17 points and was the MVP of the girls’ game.
Tristen Wolfe of Southern won the slam dunk contest.
The 3-point shootout was a boy-girl team format with Joe Burrow and Dominique Doseck of Athens the winners.
