PROCTORVILLE — The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a rash of breaking and enterings of businesses in the Proctorville-Rome Township area that started over the weekend.
Among those hit include Hamilton Chevrolet, Carey Chiropractic and a storage facility.
“At the storage building, there were 20 to 30 units that were entered,” Lawrence County Sheriff Jeff Lawless said on Thursday. “That was reported to us this morning.”
At Carey Chiropractic the front glass was broken in on Monday and cash was taken from the petty cash box, according to a report filed with the sheriff’s office.
“We have detectives looking into the cases and are trying to gather evidence to develop a suspect,” Lawless said. “We are going on the assumption it is same individuals, more than one involved. We believe (the cases) are tied.”
On Thursday afternoon Lawless had the office’s chief deputy canvassing the area to determine if any individuals had security cameras at their homes that would be near the businesses that have been hit. The detectives want to review that security footage.
“Anyone with any information should contact the sheriff’s office,” he said.
