DORIS ALLEN

Doris Faye Allen, 77, of South Point, went home to be with her Lord Thursday, Dec.11, 2008, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Waiting for her at Heaven’s Gate was her faithful husband of 56 years, Charles Douglas Allen, who died in 2005.
Doris was born Aug. 1, 1931, in Elliot County, Ky., the daughter of the late Ulmont and Cleffie Rucker Stapleton. She spent her adult life in Lawrence County, and was a faithful member of Symmes Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She retired in 1994 from the Collins Career Center, where she served as head cook.
In addition to her parents, Doris was also preceded in death by a brother, William Stapleton; a daughter-in-law, Carol Allen; a brother-in-law, Jack Beebe; and a sister-in-law, Goldie Stapleton.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Kent and Kristy Eldridge, of Bidwell; a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Rena Allen, of Proctorville; a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Terri Allen, of South Point; a son, Craig Allen, of South Point; one granddaughter and her husband, Lines and Jennifer Graham, of Proctorville; a grandson and his wife, Chad and Patricia Allen, of Proctorville; a grandson and his wife, Jason D. and Erica Allen, of South Point; and grandsons, Kaleb Eldridge and Jacob Eldridge both of Bidwell. She will also be missed by two sisters, Madeline Beebe and Betty Stapleton, both of Franklin Furnace; a brother and his wife, Seldon and Pauline Stapleton, of Ashland, Ky.; and a brother and his wife, Rollie and Helen Stapleton, of Spartanburg, S.C.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. today at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Wilgus. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in memory of Doris to be made to Hospice. The family is truly thankful for the kindness and loving care offered by the staff at Woodland Oaks Health Care Facility in Ashland, Ky., and the Hospice nurses who provided her with round the clock care.
