Sara Thoman
April 15, 1997 — Nov. 17, 2014
Sara Ann Thoman, 17, of South Point, died Monday, Nov. 17, 2014, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia. She was born April 15, 1997 in Huntington, the daughter of Steven A. Thoman and Karen C. Schneider of South Point. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Jennie Schneider.
Sara was a senior and a varsity cheerleader at South Point High School. In addition to her parents, she is survived by a brother, T. J. Schneider of Huntington; her paternal grandparents, Richard and Kay Thoman of South Point; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at South Point High School. Burial will follow in Burlington Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the school from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

George Scott
March 3, 1943 — Nov. 17, 2014
George William Scott, 71, of Wurtland, Kentucky, passed away Monday, Nov. 17, 2014, at his residence. The Ironton native was born March 3, 1943, a son of the late John F. and Minnie Osborn Scott. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Scott, who passed in August 2014.
Mr. Scott was a graduate of Rock Hill High School and a former employee for the Scott Chemical Company, retiring in 2008 after 40 years of service with them. He was a member of the AmVets and loved going to Florida during the winter. He was of the Christian faith.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John Ed Scott and Bob Scott.
He is survived by two sons, Mark Allen (Tina) Scott of Oak Hill, and Chad (Melanie) Scott of Kitts Hill; two grandchildren, John Allen Scott of Kitts Hill and Nikki Scott of Oak Hill; a brother, Vernon E. (Rita) Scott of Ashland; and five great-grandchildren, Madison Scott, Makayla Scott, Emma Scott, Hunter Scott and Cole Scott.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday in Rose Hill Cemetery with pastor Mark Roach officiating. There will be no public visitation and Phillips Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.

Ruth McKenzie, 85, of Ashland, died on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014, in Kingsbrook Life Care Center. Arrangements are pending at Carman Funeral Home.
Kathleen Warren
Kathleen “Kitsy” Warren, 88, beloved wife of Eugene Warren, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014, at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Mrs. Warren was the daughter of the late Lt. Colonel Sam B. and Agnes Cooke. She was a graduate of Ironton High School in 1944 and The Ohio State University in 1948. Survivors other than her husband include three children, Patricia Maiorino, Susan Warren, and Michael Warren; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service for Kathleen will be held at a later date. Kerr Brothers Funeral Home in Lexington, Kentucky is in charge of the arrangements. Wanda McKenzie
Wanda Jean Willis McKenzie, 72, of Flatwoods, Kentucky, died at her home on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, Kentucky, with brother Danny Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.

Herman Lambert, 78, of Chesapeake, died Tuesday Nov. 18, 2014, at home. He is survived by his wife, Pheba Adkins Lambert. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville.

Charles Franklin Monroe, Jr., 69, of Spring Lake, North Carolina, formerly of Ironton, died on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014. He is survived by his wife, Pamella Monroe. A graveside service with military honors was held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 14, 2014, at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake. A visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014, at Adcock Funeral Home and Crematory, Spring Lake.
