Peter Augustus Clay, 51, of Ironton, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. The Ironton native was born Oct. 28, 1957, the son of George and Irene Hodnett Clay of Ironton who survives.
Mr. Clay was a graduate of Saint Joseph High School, a U.S. Navy veteran and a former construction worker.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by three sisters, Irene Clay of Charlotte, N.C., Teresa DiCenzo of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Amy Clay of Ironton; and three brothers, Richard Clay and James Clay, both of Ironton, and George Clay II of Dunlap, Ill.
Funeral Mass will be Tuesday 10:00 a.m. at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, with Father David Huffman officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery with military graveside rites by VFW Post 8850. There will be no visitation. Phillips Funeral Home is charge of the arrangements.
