Museum getting ready for holidays

The Christmas season is in full bloom at the Lawrence County Museum as volunteers are in the midst of decking the halls of the Gray Mansion in the traditional manner.
“The theme this year is Happy Holidays,” Kay Rader, a member of the museum board, said.
Rooms will be decorated according to their designers’ tastes. Weber’s Florist is once again decorating the stairway and tree at the top of the stairs, plus the tree in the front parlor. Fondalene Alfrey and Rader are turning the solarium into an outdoor scene. Peggy Karshner is decorating the upstairs bedroom; Lou Pyles, the Nannie Kelley Wright room; Gail Webb, the dining room; and Laura Brown and Floye Cook, the medical and John Rankin rooms.
The rooms will be ready for next Saturday’s opening reception starting at 6 p.m., where the community can check out the new holiday décor. Then on Sunday at 2 p.m. begins the weekly series of musical concerts until the museum closes on Dec. 14.
First up will be What’s Cookin’, a guitar and mandolin ensemble.
