Ruby S. Crider, 96, of Ironton, died Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, at her home. She was born Jan. 18, 1913, in Whites Creek, Boyd County, Ky., a daughter of the late Oliver H. and Sadie Virginia Queen Stewart.
She was a retired teacher with 47 years in the Hanging Rock and Green Township school districts, a member of the Lawrence County Retired Teachers Association, Ironton General Auxiliary, Christ United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Wilbur A. Stewart and Charles Russell (Elizabeth) Stewart and a sister, Mary Vanhorn.
Surviving are two sisters, Hazel Scott of Ironton and Mabel (Harold) Jeter of South Point; two nephews, Hal (Teresa) Jeter and Rusty (Toni) Stewart; two nieces, Willadee (John) Wehmeyer and Carole (Wayne) Broughton; a special sister-in-law, Bertha Dee Stewart; and special caregivers, Pam Howell, Lisa Waugh, Ruby Oliver, Judy Wells and Sheila Songer.
A service in memory of Ruby’s life will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Woodland Cemetery, Section I with the Rev. Todd Wallace and the Rev. Willard Metz. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. today at Tracy Brammer Funeral Home.
