A South Point man who recently admitted to selling prescription drugs was sentenced to five years in prison.

Judge Charles Cooper sentenced Steven Layman, 31, of 97 Township Road 1034, Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court. His charges were two fourth-degree counts of trafficking in drugs, as well as a third-degree count.

Layman was also ordered to pay mandatory fines and his driver’s license was suspended for one year.

“I apologize to my family and friends, you and the state,” Layman told the court. “I was just trying to feed a habit. I’m sorry for what I did.”

Laymen, as well as his father, Larry K. Layman, 64, was arrested March 19 following an investigation by the Lawrence and Drug and Major Crimes Task Force.

In other cases:

• Edward Hudnall, 40, of 161 Williams St., East Bank, West Virginia, was arraigned on a bill of information of fifth-degree theft, to which he pleaded guilty. Cooper set sentencing for Nov. 5 and set bond at $30,000 own-recognizance. Cooper also ordered the man must report weekly to the adult probation department for drug testing.

• Stuart Wolfe, 55, of 275 N. Third St. Apt. 916, Ironton, pleaded guilty to an amended indictment of fifth-degree attempted disruption of a public service. Cooper ordered a PSI and set sentencing for Nov. 5.

• Alfreda Fetter, 71, of 19 Township Road 506, Kitts Hill, was arraigned on a third-degree count of tampering with evidence, to which she pleaded not guilty. Cooper set bond at $25,000 cash, surety or property and set a pretrial for Nov. 5.

• Danielle Hamm, 35, of 317 Township Road 276 N., South Point, was arraigned on a bill of information of fifth-degree theft, to which she pleaded guilty. Cooper ordered a PSI and set sentencing for Nov. 5.

Cooper set bond at $30,000 OR and ordered weekly drug testing by the adult probation department.

• William Lawrence, 28, of 713 S. Ninth St., Ironton Apt. C, was arraigned on two third- and one fourth-degree count of trafficking in drugs, to which he pleaded not guilty.

Judge D. Scott Bowling set bond at $10,000 cash or surety and $50,000 OR and GPD monitoring. A pretrial was set for Oct. 29.

• Pamela Ackison, 53, of 802 Mastin Ave., Ironton, who previously pleaded guilty to a fifth-degree count of possession of drugs, was sentenced to four years community control sanctions under intensive supervised probation and 200 hours community service.

• Dakota Rice, 21, of 1097 County Road 1 Apt. 55, South Point, who previously pleaded guilty to a fourth-degree count of theft of a motor vehicle, was sentenced to four years CCS/ISP, 200 hours community service and STAR.

• Willie Stiltner, 58, of 75 Pershing Ave., Sciotoville, admitted CCS violations and was sentenced to six months in prison.

• Mary Nagle, 28, of 1062 Turkey Foot Road, Wheelersburg, who previously pleaded guilty to three fifth-degree counts of theft, was sentenced to 33 months in prison. Bowling also ordered the woman to pay $4,041 restitution to Walmart.
