Scientist Thomas Huxley is credited with saying, “Try to learn something about everything and everything about something.”

If one were to take his advice, at least in regards to the first half of the quote, one wouldn’t have to look much farther than Ohio University Southern.

The Ironton and Proctorville campuses are offering community education classes on a variety of topics ranging from couponing and crocheting to the Underground Railroad and Victorian living.

The great thing about these classes is that anyone can sign up, regardless of educational background and without being enrolled at the university. And, they are relatively inexpensive.

This program is a prime example of how OUS strives to not only educate its students, but also be active in educating the community as a whole.

Although these classes do not count for college credit, offering people a way to broaden their horizons and learn something new is just as satisfying a reward.

One is never too old, or too young, to learn a new skill, craft or general knowledge about the world.
