ORLYN MILLER

PATRIOT — Orlyn M. Miller, of Patriot, passed away Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009, at Heartland of Jackson in Jackson. The Gallia County native was born April 21, 1927, the son of the late Samuel and Cathern Miller Miller. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane Provens Miller, who passed away June 1, 2006.
Mr. Miller attended Cadmus Gallia County Schools. He is a U.S. Air Force WWII veteran and retired from Crown City Mining Company. He was a Walnut Twp Trustee for over 30 years, a member of Ohio Operating Engineers and McDaniel Crossroads Church.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Larry Miller; a granddaughter, Michelle Miller; a brother, Ellsworth Miller; and a sister, Wanda Parsons.
He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Lois Miller of Patriot; three granddaughters and their husbands, Lisa and Todd Bradley, Christi and Terry Spurlin, all of Gallipolis, and Julie and Brad Smith of North Carolina; a grandson, Joey Miller of Patriot; a daughter-in-law and her husband, Teresa and Phil Doughman of North Carolina; a sister-in-law and her husband, Betty and Harvey Saunders of Patriot; and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at McDaniels Crossroads Church with Pastor David Henson officiating. Burial will follow in Flagsprings Cemetery with military graveside rites provided by the Gallia County Veterans Funeral Detail Team. Friends may call today from 5-7 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home.
