PROCTORVILLE — The St. Joseph Flyers were thinking about putting an ad in the newspaper’s lost and found section.
The Flyers kept taking shots but couldn’t find the goal. However, the found it twice and used a good defense to beat the Fairland Dragons 2-1 Wednesday in a soccer game.
“We didn’t play bad, we just couldn’t find the net,” said Flyers’ coach Mike Balestra. “We got off to a slow start and never got going. And Fairland played well tonight.”
St. Joseph (5-3-1) took a 1-0 first half lead on a goal by Peyton Adkins. The second goal was by Dylan Arrington in the second half.
Flyers’ goalkeeper Joey Bush had 15 saves.
St. Joseph had 25 shots on goal to 23 for Fairland. Each team had four corner kicks and both were called for two offsides penalties.
The Flyers were called for eight fouls and Fairland just two.
St. Joseph hosts New Boston at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
