EDNA BAKER

SAVANNAH, Ga. — Edna Dole Baker, 90, died Monday, March 16, 2009, at Savannah Square nursing facility.
She was born April 13, 1918 in Oak Hill, Ohio, grew up in Ironton, Ohio and later moved to Columbus, Ohio. In 1957, she moved with her family to Wayne, Penn., and in 1998 moved with her husband to Sun City Hilton Head to be closer to family members.
She was predeceased in death by her husband of 63 years, J. Franklin Baker, by her parents John Addison Dole and May Boggs Dole, and by two brothers and four sisters.
Edna was a graduate of Ironton (Ohio) High School and attended The Ohio State University. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Radnor, Penn. Edna loved caring for her rose garden, being a fan of the Philadelphia Phillies, Philadelphia Eagles and the Ohio State Buckeyes, and many travels overseas with her husband. She worked in accounting for General Electric and Combustion Engineering, retiring from the latter.
She is survived by her son, Dr. Dole P. Baker and his wife Wendy of Littleton, N.C.; her daughter, Sandra Baker Cressman and her husband Kirk, of Savannah; grandchildren, Dr. Dole P. Baker, Jr. of Anderson, S.C., Cathy (Baker) Cook of Raleigh, N.C., John Baker of Baltimore, Md., Randy Baker of Baltimore, Md., Jeff Cressman of Savannah, and Jennifer Cressman of Denver, Colo., and ten great grandchildren.
