Lady Panthers go the distance to get volleyball victories

CHESAPEAKE — The Chesapeake Lady Vikings just like playing long games.

The Lady Panthers went four and five sets in their two volleyball games this week as they picked up a pair of Ohio Valley Conference wins.

On Tuesday, the Lady Panthers beat the Fairland Lady Dragons if four sets 26-24, 16-25, 25-20, 25-23. Carley Lester and Kelsey Huff scored 16 points each in the win.

In the reserve match, Chesapeake lost 14-25, 18-25. McKenna Curry had six points for the Lady Panthers.

On Thursday, the Lady Panthers went five sets to get a win over the Rock Hill Redwomen, 24-26, 25-22, 25-14, 20-25 and 15-10 in the tiebreaker.

Huff scored 18 points to lead Chesapeake.

In the junior varsity game, Chesapeake won 25-22, 25-15 as Curry scored nine points.

The Lady Panthers host South Point on Monday then visit Green on Wednesday and Fairland on Thursday.
