Sharon E. Harmon, 66, of Ironton, died Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Ky.
The Detroit, Mich. native was born Aug. 23, 1942, the daughter of the late Charles and Evelyn McCleese Walters. She is survived by her husband, Wed Harmon, whom she married March 20, 1960.
She attended Ironton City Schools, was a homemaker and a member of the Hanging Rock Apostolic Church of God and the Judah Apostolic Church on the Rock. She was born in Detroit, but lived all her life in Lawrence County.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Ray Harmon; a daughter, Darlene Gipson; three grandsons, Ronald Anderson, William Anderson, and Justin Harmon; and a great grandson, Ronald Harmon.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Charles Kelly and Kathy Harmon of Ironton, David E. and Barbara Harmon of Ironton and Wed Jr. and Teresa Harmon of Ironton; daughters and sons-in-law, Constance K. and Johnathon Nelson of North Carolina, Janie E. Lewis of Ironton, Brenda Lee and Robert Lewis of Ironton and Angela Depriest of Pedro; 25 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; four brothers, Fred Walters, Donald Walters, James Walters, and Jack Walters all of Galion; and three sisters, Barbara Jenkins, Judy G. Castle, and Donna Jenkins all of Galion.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Hayes-Phillips Funeral Home with Pastor Kenny Waller officiating. Burial will follow in Hanging Rock Cemetery. Visitation will be after noon Friday at the funeral home. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.
