Anyone window shopping in downtown Ironton will have a little bit more to look at because of a partnership among Ironton aLive and local artists groups.

The old Gabler building next to Toro Loco on South Third Street is the first of the vacant storefronts to display art ranging from watercolors to mixed media to pottery.

“We plan to do other storefronts, too,” Pati Payne, of the Ironton Artists Association, said. “This is just something we thought we could do to spruce up downtown.”

The art displays are a project of Ironton aLive’s business enhancement committee and along with the Ironton Artists Association, art students from OUS, and volunteer artists are also involved.

“We have a couple other building owners who have agreed to allow us to use their vacant windows also,” Sam Heighton, business enhancement committee member, said. “People should watch for displays for a more attractive downtown Ironton.”
