Each August Ironton In Bloom Inc. requests residents to submit nominations for an outstanding churchyard in the city.

“Ironton has more than 30 churches within its city limits,” Judy Sanders, IIB publicity officer, said. “The hard work of maintaining their church grounds is usually done my devoted church member volunteers who rarely get the recognition they deserve.”

To nominate a church for this recognition, send the church’s name and address to irontoninbloom@gmail.com or call Sanders at 740-532-2954. Deadline for nominations is Aug. 15.

IIB’s regular “Yard of the Month” contest will resume in September and will be the last yard award given in 2014.
