In most cases the willingness for a student to learn is increased when put into an environment conducive for success. Another essential aspect, however, is to have a good foundation.
That is where the Tools 4 School program helps fill the gaps for our local students.
The event is put together by St. Paul Lutheran Church and celebrated its 10th anniversary this year and continues to be a terrific asset for county families who may otherwise struggle to provide their children with the needed supplies for school each year.
The program distributed more than 2,000 backpacks full of donated school supplies along with giving out more than 1,500 books through the Appalachian Family and Children’s First Council, that partnered with the event.
Of course, this event would not be possible without the tremendous support from the community, businesses and various other organizations.
And each year, organizers look for the program to grow.
It will take continued support from the community each item donated can help a child succeed in school. Donations are always welcome and volunteers are needed each year.
Ultimately, providing our students with the necessary tools for success in the classroom is essential to the overall educational process.
