Ironton Jr. Tigers set football fitness July 30

Boys planning to play football at the Ironton Middle School should meet at the school at 8 a.m. Wednesday for physical fitness.

All players must have an athletic physical before participating. Athletic physical forms are available on the OHSAA athletic website or the Ironton City Schools’ website Tigertown.com

Ironton flag football plans registrations Tuesday

Any boys in grades K-1 who want to play flag football this season may register between 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Ironton Little League field.

 

Rock Hill Middle School camp set this week

The Rock Hill Middle School will conduct its football camp from 8:30 a.m. to noon Monday through Thursday at the high school field.

RH youth cross country meeting set Monday

The Rock Hill youth cross country team will have registrations for grades 3-6 at 5 p.m. on Monday, July 28, at the Lake Vesusvius boat dock.

 

Ironton volleyball camp planned for July 28-30

The Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers’ girls’ volleyball cmp will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, July 28-30, at the middle school, 302 Delaware St.

Fee is $25.

Areas of instruction include passing, setting, hitting, serving, teamwork skills, blocking and defense.

 

Ironton cross country camp set for summer

The Ironton Fighting Tigers will conduct a summer cross country camp from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for nine dates culminating with a Midnight Madness at 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 31. First day of practice is Friday, Aug. 1.

 

Rock Hill youth football plans signups, camp

The Rock Hill youth football league will conduct a football camp for anyone in grades K-6 from 7-8 p.m. July 28 to Aug. 1. Fee is $5.

St. Joseph to host

annual soccer clinic

The St. Joseph High School soccer team will conduct its annual youth soccer clinic will be held form 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, July 28, 29 and 31, at the Ironton Area Youth Soccer Fields located at Ninth and Lorain streets.

Under 6 meets from 6-7:30 p.m.

Fee is $25 and $20 for each additional family sibling.

Registration forms are available at Unger’s Shoe Store, Iron City Hardware, Bob Clyse Chevrolet and GMC, and St. Joseph High School.

Early registration deadline is July 25. Fee is $30 the day of the clinic. Daily registration is at 5:-5:45 p.m.

The clinic is for age groups from 4 through 14.

 

South Point youth soccer sets registration dates

The South Point youth soccer league will conduct registrations at the league field for youths ages 4-12 from 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesday at Giovanni’s Pizza.

The league will also host a camp on Saturday, Aug. 2, to be instructed by personnel from the Columbus Crew.

Dragons’ book meeting

Sunday in Proctorville

There will be a meeting at 2 p.m. today at Wendy’s in Proctorville for anyone with information, photos, antedotes or stories about the 1960-61 Fairland Dragons’ basketball state tournament season.

Team member Joe Heinz is writing the book and is asking for input. Any former Fairland or opposing players, coaches, referees, school officials, etc., are invited to attend.

All persons with submissions will be recognized in the book.

Annual Flyer 5K run

scheduled for Aug. 16

The fourth annual Ironton Catholic Schools Flyer 5K run in cooperation with Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital and Ironton Urgent Care will be held starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16, at the high school on the corner of Fifth and Quincy streets.

Fee is $15 before Aug. 9 and $20 after that date. Same day registration will be from 7-7:45 a.m. Checks may be made payable to Ironton Catholic Schools (912 S. Sixth St., Ironton, OH 45638).

Awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers overall and in each of the 15 age groups. There will be no duplications. Tech shirts will be guaranteed to the first 200 runners. There were 283 entries last year.

 

Bobcat Bash planned

for Kentucky game

Ohio University will sponsor a pre-game alumni Bobcat Bash from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6, when the Bobcats play Kentucky in Lexington, Ky.

Alumni and friends are invited to enjoy food and drinks as they reconnect with fellow Bobcats.

Admission price includes two tickets redeemable for alcoholic beverages. Non-alcoholic beverages will be available.

Lady Herd offering two softball camps

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Marshall softball will be hosting an all-skills camp from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 28-29 for girls entering grades 1-8.

Interested athletes can print off the camp brochure from HerdZone.com and send in the registration form plus a $25 non-refundable deposit to the softball offices at P.O. Box 1360, Huntington, WV, 25715.

Lunch on campus and a one-hour swim (July 28 only) at the Marshall Rec Center are included.

The camp is conducted by Shonda Stanton, the Herd’s all-time winningest softball coach.

The Lady Herd “Fall Instructional Program” that will work on all aspects of pitching and hitting will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. on Sept. 9, 16,23 and 30 and Oct. 7 and 14.

The 11th annual Bo Reid Memorial Baseball Tournament will be held July 26-27 in Tiffin.

There are 10U and 12U age divisions for the 3-game guarantee round robin format. First eight teams will be accepted.
